"The most effective and efficient method of economic empowerment to a community is exploring alternative sources of income from the available resources whose potential is not yet fully exploited," Warui said recenty when he paid a visit to Mr. Kuria from Kiairegi near Ndunyuchege.

Mr Kuria (in yellow shirt) runs a vast Hass Avocado trees nursery, the kind of alternative economic activities that Hon Warui is eager to support and promote as MCA through supply and market linkages.

"Mr Kuria here has the best Hass Avocado trees that I have ever come across. In fact, I encourage anyone looking for this avocado variety to come here because they won't be disappointed," Warui says.

He adds: "Mr Kuria has enough good seedlings that can supply the entire Kariara Ward. We must promote our own farmers by connecting them to the supply source or potential market."
