Samidoh Speaks on Resigning From Police Job

Without a doubt Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, is the reigning new-age Mugithi king.

The musician who was born in Subukia, Nakuru County, but raised in Nyandarua County, came into the limelight in 2016 when he released 'Ndiri Mutwe Mwega' which became an instant hit.

Three years before becoming a 'celeb', Samidoh had  joined the police service as an Administration Police (AP), and was deployed in various stations which include Eastleigh, Mpeketoni and Dadaab.

Since releasing his first album which has other songs such as 'Riari Itheru', 'Tuhii Tuitu' and 'Kairitu Gakwa', the young artist has build a huge name in the music industry, and is undoubtedly the most-sought after Gikuyu musician.

Is Samidoh planning to quit his job as police officer and concentrate on music where his star continue to rise every dawn? That is the question thousands of his fans in Kenya and abroad have been asking as most consider police job as challenging and under-paying.

The 30-year-old and a father of two in a recent interview with the Standard said:

"I’m a husband, father and police officer. These roles have a special spot in my heart. I’m not quitting my job for the music industry any time soon." - Samidoh.

Samidoh insisted despite his growing success in the music industry, he was not planning to give up on the gun since he got the job when he did not have a name and was 'naked'.

"Have you ever gone to a police recruitment exercise and seen people without shirts being taken through various activities? Leaving a job you searched for under those circumstances is very painful," said the officer who is currently stationed in Athi River, Machakos County.

Samidoh has over 204,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel and his latest solo hit, 'Mumbi', has attracted over 1.9 million views in a span of two months.

His latest collabo with another upcoming Mugithi sensation, Ka White, dubbed 'Urumwe Mbeere' which was uploaded three weeks ago, has about half a million views on the best-rated video sharing platform.
