Deputy President William Ruto did not mince words when on Saturday he told his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, pointblank that he won't resign from his post while making it clear that he is in government to stay.
Ruto was responding to Uhuru's call a day earlier to leave government accusing him of "petty politics of division and balkanisation" and "insulting people" while also taking credit for the government's success.
The DP would, however, shooting from the hip, remind the President that ODM leader Raila Odinga was also doing the same by blaming his Jubilee administration for its spectacular failures while jumping to the limelight to take credit and make political capital on every available opportunity.
"These people who have joined us in Jubilee should tell us if they are in the government or the opposition. They should choose to stay with us and remain silent or quit because you cannot have your cake and eat it too," Ruto said.
He added: "You cannot say you are with us and then ask about laptops and stadia, and claim Jubilee has done nothing. If you cannot see what the government has done, it is time to exit."
Ruto's response was a veiled jab at the President to put his house in order with his new-found bedfellow, Raila Odinga, before rushing to point fingers at him.
Ruto was also quick to remind the President, that his role has been peripheral since he invited Raila to government and, therefore, won't be deviating from what he has been doing to concentrate on his shenanigans.
"I will continue respecting the decisions of the President because he is the one in charge and who calls the shots. I will not undermine his decisions but will continue discharging my roles," the DP affirmed.
The country's second-in-command could not have been more correct in calculatively blaming Uhuru for the current mess in government, as "when we went to look for votes, we had a common agenda" but you (Uhuru) opted to derail it through a frivolous BBI agenda that ironically continues to burn more bridges than build.
No doubt, the egg on Uhuru's face is as a consequence of his own misguided agenda blended with dictatorial tendencies that make him have a fallacy that he was elected by premium votes.
As such, he should bear the blunt of his absurd missteps silently without looking for scapegoats because as Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen rightfully posed to him on Friday, he is competing with nobody on his way to Ichaweri.
"Why is the president in a panic in his last two years in office? Why is he complaining all over yet he is the president of this country? Who is he competing with for retirement? Why is he speaking with alot of anger?" Murkomen poses.
